Sorsogon clash kills civilian, wounds trooper

MANILA — A trooper of the 8th Scout Ranger Company was wounded while a civilian was killed following an encounter with New People's Army (NPA) guerillas in Barangay Cadandanan, Bulan, Sorsogon Sunday morning.

Major Angelo De Guzman, 9th Infantry Division spokesperson, said that 8th Scout Ranger Company was conducting security patrols on the areas when it encountered communist rebels around 5:30 a.m.
De Guzman said that Pfc. Gilbert A. Gayo was wounded during the 10-minute firefight where the rebels fired the first shots.
Reported killed was civilian Cesar Habla whose death remained under investigation to determine who among the combatants were responsible for the latter's untimely demise.
De Guzman said that they were looking at the possibility that Habla was caught in the crossfire. (PNA)

He was the founding member, songwriter and lead vocalist of the bands Yano, Pan, and dongabay, which are now all defunct. As of January 2008, he is pursuing a career as an independent artist.

Free Printable Birthday Cards

Two years ago I was commissioned to do some 150 free printable birthday cards for a foreign company in Adelaide, Australia. It’s a good choice since I get to know it’s terrific CEO Christopher Roberts. Different cards with different themes are a great thing to do. Last week, they come calling again for a custom birthday card designed custom t-shirts project.

Now And Forever

The Wild Swans, a post-punk band from Liverpool, England, which originally formed in 1980 are coming to Manila!

Shortly after Paul Simpson (ex-keyboards) left The Teardrop Explodes and teamed up (on vocals) with Jeremy Kelly (guitar), Ged Quinn (keyboards), James Weston (bass) and Justin Stavely (drums). Stavely was later replaced by Alan Wills and although bass players came and went, Joseph Fearon played on both of the studio albums, recorded by a reincarnated Mark II version of the band.

The Wild Swans have not to date recorded any charting hits or albums, but they have enjoyed a degree of success and/or cult status in the US, Germany, UK, Japan, and especially the Philippines. The Wild Swans also spun off two charting splinter projects; Care and The Lotus Eaters. Members of The Wild Swans have also been members of such Liverpool-based UK chart acts as Echo & The Bunnymen, The Icicle Works, The Woodentops and The Lightning Seeds. That is history folks!

On October 1, it’s a gift as the Wild Swans will be performing here in Manila. Thanks to Giz Rockque, a long-ago friend who are just one of the fantastic people behind all things Swans!
